Anne McFarland and Anne O’Leary have been appointed as independent non-executive directors of Ornua, the company which markets and exports €2.3bn worth of Irish dairy products annually.
The co-operative owner of the iconic Kerrygold brand, Ornua has made these board appointments as part of its efforts to drive further international growth for premium Irish dairy products.
Anne McFarland is a chartered accountant with 40 years of experience in finance, international business, and governance. Currently running her own finance and governance consultancy, Gartan Finance, Anne’s career has included a number of senior finance roles and directorships with private and listed firms across multiple international markets. Most recently she was an independent director for Botswana Diamonds.
Anne O’Leary is a chartered certified accountant with 40 years’ experience. Most recently, she was a senior audit partner with Ernst & Young (EY) in Cork until her retirement in June 2020.
During her career with EY, Anne worked with companies of all sizes ranging from domestic to international, public, and private, co-operative and family-owned across a number of sectors.
She has worked as an audit partner and advisor to an Irish dairy processing business for 10 years. She has also been the coordinating partner with US multinationals, working across many jurisdictions, and reviewing reporting requirements across many countries.
The Ornua board now consists of eight appointees from member suppliers on a non-conflicted basis; three independent non-executive directors; an appointee from each of the IFA, ICMSA, ICOS and two Ornua executives.
