Here is a selection of people starting new roles with Mortgage Navigators, Bank of Ireland, DP Energy, EssenceMediacom, AIB and Servcentric.
Margaret Barrett has been appointed as managing director at Mortgage Navigators, a specialist mortgage broker service for self-employed contractors, a division of Contracting PLUS. An experienced mortgage advisor and QFA, Margaret previously worked with Bank of Ireland in Cork for seven years. She now heads a team tasked with identifying optimum borrowing solutions for self-employed professionals, buying properties. She holds a Business degree from MTU and a diploma in Financial Advice from UCD, becoming a QFA. She has held senior roles with OSB Group and with Newmarket Motors in Newmarket Co. Cork. She is also volunteer treasurer of Millstreet Presentation national school in Cork.
John Feeney has been appointed to a newly-created role with Bank of Ireland, overseeing its property, project and asset-backed finance activities. He joins from Mizuho Bank, the banking arm of Mizuho Financial Group, where he was head of European banking. John has a wealth of financial services leadership experience in London, Singapore and Tokyo, including senior roles at Lloyds Banking Group, Henderson Global Investors and Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He will now lead Bank of Ireland’s real estate and project finance teams, as well as Bank of Ireland Finance. John holds an MSc from London School of Economics and is a chartered financial analyst.
Barb Bryden has been appointed as stakeholder, rightsholder, and community liaison manager to the expanding operation in Canada of DP Energy, one of Ireland’s leading developers of renewable energy projects, headquartered in Buttevant, Co Cork, and operating globally. Barb brings 30 years’ experience working in the environmental field in both public and private sectors. She has worked with the Government of Nova Scotia as an environmental engineering technologist, as an inspector specialist, and has led the ambient air quality program for the province of Nova Scotia. Barb holds a Masters in Environmental Management and Restoration from Charles Stuart University in Bathurst Australia, as well as Environmental degrees.
Ben Hawley has been promoted to head of strategy with media planning and buying agency EssenceMediacom Ireland. He was previously business director with the agency, working with clients such as Google, Universal and Hayu. Ben joined the firm as a business director in 2021, having previously held roles with Zenith, Mediaworks, Starcom and NewsCorp Australia. He has extensive experience in managing major international brands across the aviation, entertainment, financial services and retail sectors. Ben has been working in a strategy role with Mars for the past two years. “I’m excited to be part of the transformation that we’re going through here in Ireland,” said Ben.
Cathy Bryce, MD of Capital Markets AIB, has been appointed as the first female president of the Banking & Payments Federation Ireland, which has over 125 member institutions and associates. Before joining AIB in 1996, Cathy held roles with Morgan Stanley and ABN AMRO. In 2018, she joined the National Treasury Management Agency as director of the national development finance agency and NewERA, later returning to AIB in 2019. She studied in TCD, INSEAD Business School and Harvard Business School. She sits on the finance committee of TCD and the advisory board of Trinity Business School. She is on the diversity committee for Leinster Rugby.
Brian Roe, CEO with Servecentric, the Irish cloud, data centre and connectivity services provider, has has been appointed as a director of the company. As director and CEO, he will spearh growth and development of the business and shape the overall strategic direction. With over 25 years of IT experience, he has been CEO of Servecentric in 2021, having He joined in 2016 as commercial director. He has helped the company to grow its core data centre colocation services and led the introduction of an Irish-owned, self-service, pay-as-you-go public cloud offering. He has previously held senior roles with Typetec, a managed IT and cyber security services provider.
