Here is a selection of people starting new roles with Bank of Ireland, Insight Private Clients, Druids Glen, CeADAR, Lewis Silkin and Freenow.
Susan Brown has been appointed as head of strategic transformation and operations with Bank of Ireland’s corporate and commercial banking division. Most recently, Susan was head of digital and operations and then interim COO of corporate banking. In her newly-created role, Susan will focus on building a centre for operational excellence, business servicing and strategic programme delivery for the bank’s consolidated corporate, markets and business banking teams. In more than two decades with the bank, Susan has held roles in property finance corporate banking, having started in private banking and business banking. Susan holds a degree in business studies and postgraduate qualifications in people management.
Gary Sharman has been appointed as pensions administration manager with Insight Private Clients, Cork-based financial planning and personal wealth managers. With 15 years of experience, Gary joined in 2019 after previously working with Bank of Ireland and New Ireland Assurance. He has worked in financial operations, improving systems and procedures to enhance the work process. In his new role, Gary will focus on all aspects of administration for life, pensions and investment portfolios with specific responsibility for pension administration. “I am delighted to take on this new role, working with a team of trusted experts in financial planning and personal wealth management,” said Gary.
Denise Corboy has been appointed as director of sales and marketing with Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort in Wicklow. She brings 35 years’ experience in hospitality, specialising in sales within the hotel management structure at property level. Originally from Limerick but now a long-term resident in Dublin, Denise was most recently director of sales at the Camden Court Hotel, where she has worked since its inception 26 years ago. She has also worked in Business & Leisure, a hotel sales and marketing company, and with Slieve Russell Hotel. The five-star Druids Glen recently reopened its ‘newly reimagined’ golf course following a significant investment.
Kevin Neary, CEO of Orcawise, has joined the board of CeADAR, Ireland’s Centre for Applied AI, a developer of prototypes and solutions for companies, based in Nexus UCD. Orcawise is a provider of marketing AI products. Kevin is an expert speaker on the future of marketing. Kevin initially introduced Orcawise to CeADAR as a client company before it became an industry member. He is the longest-standing member of CeADAR’s Intellectual Property Commercialisation Committee, having joined it in 2016. Orcawise services include The AI Roadmap and OrcaSignal providing datasets on SaaS companies to help identify the potential buyers of AI solutions.
Aisling Parkinson has been newly appointed as a partner in the Dublin office of commercial law firm Lewis Silkin. Aisling advises a wide range of multinational employers on all aspects of Irish employment law, notably focused on restructuring, all types of employment litigation and investigations. She is also an active member of the Employment Lawyers Association of Ireland and the European Employment Lawyers Association. Aisling is the latest addition to the law firm, whose Irish employment law team now has seven partners, and a total of 19 lawyers. Lewis Silkin launched offices in Dublin in 2018 and in Belfast in 2021. It also has offices in UK and Hong Kong.
Charlie Gleeson has been appointed as the new general manager for the Irish market with multi-mobility app Freenow. He was previously CEO and founder of Irish micromobility start-up Zipp Mobility. He will now oversee the rollout and expansion of Freenow‘s mobility offering (taxis, eScooters, eBikes, public transport etc). Charlie will lead a team of over 35 professionals in Ireland, expanding the fleet of over 14,000 driver partners across the country. He brings 11 years’ experience in the Irish market, notably launching Zipp‘s eScooter and eBike services in ten locations in Ireland, UK and Poland. Charlie holds a BComm in Accounting and Finance from UCD.
