Here is a selection of people starting new roles with Datalex, Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland, Esri Ireland, Repak, Waterways Ireland and Independent Broadcasters of Ireland.
Steven Moloney has been appointed as chief financial officer with airline e-commerce solutions provider Datalex. He also joins the board of directors. Steven joins Datalex from &Open, where he was CFO. Prior to this, Steven spent nearly six years at Block (formerly Square), where he was CFO for the UK & Europe, and led finance and strategy for the wider international business through a period of rapid growth. Steven has also held senior roles in Hostelworld, PaddyPower and PwC. “Datalex is a company that I have long admired. I am excited to join during such an important phase of growth for the business,” said Steven.
Anne-Marie Conibear has been elected as president of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland. The first woman to be elected president of the ACEI since its foundation in 1938, Anne-Marie is a director of engineering firm JB Barry and Partners, acquired by Egis Ireland in 2023. She leads major water, wastewater, and flooding projects, including dam-building. She brings experience across the UK, Latvia, Macedonia, Turkey, Albania, Croatia, and Lesotho. “Being the first female president of the ACEI reflects the ongoing and positive changes in our sector but also symbolises the progress we still need to make over the next decade,” said Anne-Marie.
Rob Morrison has been appointed as head of technology with Esri Ireland, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) specialist. He will drive business growth and provide mentorship, guidance, and technical expertise to Esri Ireland’s internal technical teams. Previously, Rob spent more than 14 years as a principal consultant with Esri Ireland, leading large customer engagements, and creating and implementing robust technical solutions for customers. Prior to this, Rob held various technical positions in Ireland, the UK, New Zealand, and the Middle East, providing exposure to and hands-on experience with cutting-edge developments in the technical field. Rob holds an MSc in Business from UCD Smurfit Business School.
Zoё Kavanagh has been appointed as CEO of packaging recycling firm Repak, succeeding Séamus Clancy who is retiring after a decade in the role. Bringing 30 years of dairy and FMCG experience, Zoё joins Repak after 13 years as CEO of the National Dairy Council. She also spent 16 years at PepsiCo in senior roles, notably as general manager for Ireland Beverages. She holds a degree in Agriculture and Food Engineering from UCD and a diploma in Board Governance & Strategy from Institute of Directors (IoD). She has also served on boards with Horse Sport Ireland, International Milk Promotion Group and European Milk Forum.
John Tolan has been appointed as marketing and development controller with Waterways Ireland, the cross-border navigational authority for inland waterways. His remit includes: sustainable development of the waterways to unlock their social, economic and environmental well-being value potential. He joins after several years as an independent marketing consultant, providing advice and expertise to clients across multiple sectors. He also spent 12 years in the drinks industry with Irish Distillers, Pernod Ricard, Diageo and Richmond Marketing, including postings in Sydney, Melbourne, London and Dublin. He was marketing director at Boyne Valley Group and has also led the marketing functions at EBS (AIB Group) and QSat Broadband.
Michael Kelly has been appointed as CEO of the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland, the representative organisation for independent radio broadcasters. The IBI’s members deliver prime-time share of 70.4%. Michael takes up this role after eight years as manager of communications with the Injuries Resolution Board. A former journalist, Michael has also held senior roles with a range of major national organisations. He was national spokesperson with ESB Group for several years, and group communications manager with EirGrid Group in Ireland and Northern Ireland. He is a fellow of the Public Relations Institute and holds a Masters in Communications and Cultural Studies from DCU.
