A Senior Quality Engineer is required by CareerWise Recruitment for our Galway based client. The successful candidate will have responsibility for Pro-actively Managing and Controlling the Product and Process Quality in assigned area of responsibility, ensuring that our customers receive a consistent quality product at all times. This role will involve driving strategic initiatives, delivering a zero-defects goal, on Supplier Quality and in Operations Quality. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will have direct reports in areas such as Training, QMS, Supplier Quality, and will also act as a mentor/support to other areas of the Quality Department. This role will also be heavily focused on controlling in-Process and Customer KPIs, ensuring that the product meets the Customer requirements and associated Quality KPI’s metrics.
THE ROLE:
- Supplier Quality, Quality Performance and Adherence to associated standard work, including Site QMS lead for associated responsibility, including managing first/second, and third party audits and the monitoring and development of all associated business processes.
- Manage associated corrective action projects, ensuring closure on a timely basis, managing and mentoring others to ensure thorough root-cause analysis has been performed, and sustainable corrective actions put in place.
- Daily management of Supplier Quality, through the MDI (Manage Daily Improvement), Customer feedback, through warranty and Field Service Reports (FSR), parts return and analysis.
- Lead the Engineering Supplier related activities, especially product and/or process changes, such as new Product Development (NPD), Engineering changes.
- Feedback performance at various stages of the process, to suppliers, that leads to behavioural changes as well as performance improvements when required. Monitor production control plans and carry out preventive action to avoid product issues.
- Develop and implement systems and processes (Standard Work), to analyse and solve problems (such as A3’s and 8D’s), carry out full root cause analyses (such as the 9 step problem solving process) and act decisively. See situations and problems through the eyes of the customer.
- Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of Engineering and Management processes, and use this knowledge in decision making, coordinating the improvement process, and meeting customer requirements ensuring that Products are built to specification and customer expectation.
- Direct management responsibility for direct reports and student placements, ensuring that each person delivers on their day-to-day tasks as part of their function. Also driving continuous process improvements. Development through mentorship of each person in their roles.
- Management of all associated processes such as ETQ system (Excellence to Quality), training, supplier qualification processes, supplier performance management, written instructions (SOEs and OMS’s) in associated areas of responsibility.
- Taking ownership responsibility and accountability for area of responsibility in the Quality function, making continuous improvements across the function and transformational improvement in identified areas.
- Development, management and coaching direct reports, including the identification, coaching and mentoring and retention of emerging talent.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A LEVEL 8 Degree in an Engineering/Science related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years in Quality within a manufacturing environment.
- A Six Sigma Qualification and high competence in data analysis and LEAN manufacturing, with a Black Belt qualification as desirable.
- Qualified and experienced Lead Auditor.
- Previous experience in a Supplier Quality role
