Tool Designer

A Tool Designer is required by CareerWise Recruitment for our Mayo based manufacturing company. Tool Designer will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing precision tools, jigs, fixtures, and molds to facilitate manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical engineering, CAD software proficiency, and hands-on experience with tool design in a production environment.

THE ROLE

• Tool Design: Design and develop tools, jigs, molds, and fixtures that meet specific project requirements and support efficient manufacturing processes.
• 3D Modeling and CAD: Create detailed 3D models and drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion)
• Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality control teams to ensure the tools meet technical specifications and production goals.
• Prototyping: Develop prototypes and oversee tool testing, modifications, and improvements.
• Material Selection: Choose appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for tool development based on the required durability, strength, and cost.
• Optimization: Ensure designs enhance productivity, reduce cycle times, and lower production costs.
• Problem Solving: Analyze and resolve tooling issues that arise during production.
• Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for all tool designs, revisions, and specifications.
• Compliance: Ensure all tools comply with safety and regulatory standards.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in tooling technology, and continuously suggest improvements to existing tools and processes.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in tool design or a related field within a manufacturing environment.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks & Fuison)and other design tools.
