The Institute is seeking to appoint an experienced professional for the role of Chief Regulatory Officer who reports to the Chief Executive and the Chair of the Professional Standards Board. The Chief Regulatory Officer leads all aspects of the regulatory functions, including licensing, monitoring, and enforcement across multiple regulatory standards and jurisdictions, ensuring full compliance with statutes in Ireland and the UK, and the Institute's Bye-laws and Regulations. The Institute is subject to oversight by various State agencies in both jurisdictions and is a recognised body for a number of statutory / regulatory competencies, including audit, insolvency, financial investment, CSRD, and AML, ensuring the highest standards of professional competence and behaviour.
KEY FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE INCLUDE:
● Manage the granting and registration of Practising Certificates and firm authorisations.
● Conduct firm monitoring in line with risk models and statutory / regulatory requirements, and engage with relevant supervisory bodies.
● Oversee case management processes, including investigations, tribunal presentations, disciplinary proceedings and independent reviews.
● Engage with key internal and external stakeholders including regulators, Government departments and industry committees.
● Review and update professional standards, Bye-laws, and Regulations; monitor legislative changes; and develop policies and guidance with regulators.
● Ensure the development of ESG reporting and assurance skills within the function to meet new CSRD requirements.
The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of the regulatory framework for the Accountancy Profession in Ireland and the UK, proven experience in strategic planning and budget management.
