Health & Safety Specialist

Type: Onsite, Full-time

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety/Health Specialist to join our dynamic team at a new biopharmaceutical start-up site in Limerick. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in developing, integrating, and continuously improving our Safety/Health programs, ensuring compliance and fostering a strong safety culture within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development & Ownership:

  • Develop, integrate, and continuously improve the Safety/Health program.
  • Act as the site program owner for several Safety/Health initiatives, including but not limited to Safety Culture, Training, and Awareness.

Expert Advice & Technical Support:

  • Provide specialist advice and technical support to ensure compliance with Safety/Health legislation, corporate standards, policies, and industry guidance.

Safety Culture Development:

  • Support the development of a proactive safety culture with integrated safety practices and open safety conversations.

Training & Communication:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality Safety/Health training and communications to all site personnel.

Initiative Implementation:

  • Drive the implementation of site-specific Safety/Health initiatives.

Project Environment Compliance:

  • Understand and implement Safety/Health requirements in a project environment through knowledge of applicable legislation and industry practices.

Performance Metrics & Analysis:

  • Complete site performance metric reviews and analysis to identify areas for improvement.

Audit Support:

  • Support site audits, self-assessments, management reviews, and corporate/external regulatory audits.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with site manufacturing and technical support personnel to manage Safety/Health aspects of new and established processes.
  • Interact with external partners (e.g., service providers, vendors, consortiums, academia) and internal partners (e.g., Global HSE, other sites in the network) as required.

Team Participation:

  • Support and participate in required Site team and HSE Team meetings.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related subject.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant professional experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably within the Pharmaceutical or another highly regulated industry.

Desired Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong understanding of Safety/Health legislation and industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver effective Safety/Health training programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze performance metrics and implement improvements.
  • Experience in supporting audits and compliance reviews.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactive and enthusiastic about fostering a positive safety culture.
