Junior Software Engineer

Our Limerick based client is a player in IoT domain with products and services in Sustainability, Energy and EV. They are seeking a talented and motivated software engineer with a strong foundation in computer science. This role goes beyond routine programming tasks and involves creative problem-solving and the rapid development of prototypes to meet varied and often quite flexible requirements.

Essentials:

• Degree in computer science or software engineering. This role is also open to graduates in other scientific and numerate disciplines such as physics, mathematics or economics

• Demonstrable proficiency in at least 2 programming languages (With one being Python)

• Sound Linux knowledge, at the developer level

• Familiarity with SQL and database concepts in general

• Familiarity with Cloud Computing and associated infrastructure

• An analytical mindset with a focus on creative problem solving

• A natural curiosity and interest in computer science and mathematics

• A minimum of two years working in industry as a software engineer (excluding college internships, web dev and Data Science)

Nice to have:

Exposure to any of

o C, C++, Wolfram Mathematica, MATLAB, JavaScript

o Time Series databases such as InfluxDB

o Queueing systems such as MQTT / RabbitMQ

o Communication Protocols

o IoT Sensors and Data collection systems

Personal Qualities:

o Self-reliant and able to work independently from time-to-time

o Not afraid to seek help or guidance when required

o An effective and clear communicator, especially with technical subjects

o Able to research problems intelligently and think outside of the box

The role will require working onsite in Limerick 4 days a week initially and then reduced.
