Chief Executive Officer

EirGrid develops and operates the onshore electricity transmission grid, owns and develops interconnectors, operates in conjunction with its Northern Ireland counterpart the all-island wholesale electricity market and has been designated by Government to operate, develop and own Ireland’s offshore transmission grid.

Chief Executive Officer

Reporting to the Chair of the Board, the successful candidate will:

• Lead the Board of Directors in developing and implementing a long-term vision and strategic plan for EirGrid.

• Build and lead a high-performing senior leadership team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and adherence to company values.

• Cultivate and maintain trusted relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including government officials, regulators, industry bodies, the community and international bodies.

• Oversee the financial health of the organisation, ensuring the successful delivery of financial targets and strategic milestones.

• Champion EirGrid as a thought leader within the industry, promoting innovation and contributing to policy development at national and European levels.

• Establish and maintain a robust risk management and compliance framework, insuring adherence to industry regulations and company risk appetite.

EirGrid welcomes applications from candidates who possess:

• Credibility in the utilities and energy sectors.

• Prior experience of leading transformation and change in a complex organisation, ideally in a regulated environment.

• Commercial experience and strategic awareness in the context of the energy sector and climate change.

• A track record of engaging, influencing and working with a wide variety of stakeholders in changing and sometimes challenging circumstances.

• Qualifications to degree level, ideally with an appropriate background in engineering, economics, finance or business.
