THE ORGANISATION

Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) is a commercial semi-state body whose mission is to develop and promote Ireland’s Horse Racing and Breeding Industries, to administer and govern the sport of Horse Racing in Ireland and to cultivate and promote the highest standards of Integrity and Welfare within the industry.

THE ROLE

Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) and the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) have jointly crafted an ambitious IT Strategy and roadmap aimed at revolutionising the role of technology in advancing their business strategies. Together, they have initiated several critical workstreams designed to achieve their corporate goals. Digital innovation is at the core of both HRI’s and IHRB’s strategic visions, prompting the need for a seasoned IT leader in the form of a Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

The CTO will play a pivotal role in steering the organisations’ technology efforts, providing visionary leadership to deliver on the strategic objectives of both HRI and IHRB. This role will be responsible for aligning technological solutions with the evolving needs of the business while supporting broader organisational initiatives.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer of HRI, the CTO will be responsible to both organisations for ensuring that technology strategies effectively address the distinct operational demands and priorities of each.

THE PERSON

HRI is seeking a dynamic Chief Technology Officer (CTO), who has been operating at CTO or IT Director level, who excels in leading and developing high-performing teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

The role requires an experienced person with a proven track record of team leadership, strong management and delivery of technological, commercial and financial success in either a Commercial or Semi-State organisation. You will lead a team of experienced individuals dedicated to delivering a sustainable future of growth, service and excellence for Horse Racing Ireland and its subsidiary companies.

You will require excellent interpersonal and communication skills to ensure a positive employee culture at HRI and foster good business relations with the key stakeholders both within and outside the organisation.
