Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail (IÉ) is at the forefront of Ireland’s sustainable transport network, driving growth through a €10bn+ nationwide investment programme of capital investment projects. ROLE
Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail is driving a major transformation to enhance Ireland’s rail network, with a nationwide capital investment programme focused on expanding passenger and freight capacity. As part of this, the newly created role of Delivery Director will play a key leadership role in managing the delivery of major programmes and projects from design through to construction and handover into steady- state operations . Working closely with the Director of Capital Investments and Capital Investments (CI’s) senior leadership team, we are seeking a strategic and hands-on leader with a proven track record in managing large-scale infrastructure programmes and projects. Your expertise in project delivery, programme management, supply chain management, risk mitigation, and cost control / value for money outcomes will be essential in navigating the complexities of our extensive heavy rail investment programme.
RESPONSIBLITIES
•Lead Programme & Project Delivery: Oversee the delivery of capital projects, from design through procurement and construction, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
•Optimise Value & Performance: Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and risk strategies to ensure cost efficiency, value for money, and high-quality delivery on time.
•Standardise Processes & Governance: Implement best practices, risk mitigation strategies, and governance frameworks to drive consistency and compliance across all projects.
•Drive Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Integrate new technologies, value engineering, and industry advancements to enhance efficiency and project outcomes.
•Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, collaborating to resolve challenges and ensure successful delivery.
•Team Development & Leadership: Mentor and manage project teams, fostering a high-performance culture that promotes collaboration and excellence.
•Strategic Reporting & Risk Management: Provide clear, timely updates to senior leadership on project progress, risks, and mitigation strategies to safeguard delivery objectives.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
•Strong leadership skills with experience managing large teams across complex, high-value projects.
•Proven ability to deliver value for money, while ensuring robust risk management.
•Expertise in navigating stakeholder relationships and maintaining effective communication channels across diverse teams.
•20+ years of experience in delivery of major programmes of work, including significant exposure to large-scale projects.
•Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
•Solid understanding of industry regulations and standards applicable to large-scale projects.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
•Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management or a related field.
•Professional certifications/chartership in an appropriate discipline (RICS, CIOB, APM etc.).
