Dispatch Manager – County Leitrim
Reporting to: Site Manager
Role Overview: This position plays a vital role within the site management team, with overall responsibility for the dispatch, chilled, and frozen storage operations. The successful candidate will oversee intake, cold storage, and dispatch processes for fresh, chilled, and frozen goods, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality product flow to domestic and international markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Intake & Storage Management
Oversee systems for the intake of chilled and frozen products.
Manage cold storage operations, including blast freezing.
Maintain optimal storage conditions to preserve product quality.
Coordinate intake schedules and product movement.
Dispatch Operations
Lead dispatch activities across fresh and frozen goods.
Develop and maintain systems to ensure accurate and timely order fulfilment.
Systems & Documentation
Oversee stock management using SAP and Business Warehouse tools.
Ensure accurate documentation for both domestic and export consignments.
Manage health certification and compliance with TRACES and similar systems.
Team Management
Supervise time and attendance through digital timekeeping systems.
Coordinate team schedules and leave planning.
Provide training and performance management.
Participate in recruitment and staff development with HR.
Compliance & Quality
Enforce food safety and HACCP protocols throughout operations.
Ensure traceability and compliance with internal and external quality standards.
Continuous Improvement
Attend and contribute to daily PIT and Lean meetings.
Lead Lean improvement initiatives.
Identify and implement efficiency enhancements.
Cost & KPI Management
Monitor departmental KPIs and drive cost efficiency.
Address stock losses and discrepancies.
Customer Service
Maintain effective communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
Act as primary contact for dispatch-related queries and issue resolution.
Health & Safety
Promote a safe working environment and ensure adherence to safety policies.
Transport Coordination
Collaborate with transport teams to facilitate smooth product movements.
Key Requirements:
3–5 years' experience in dispatch, warehouse, or cold storage operations (preferably within FMCG or food industries).
Solid understanding of chilled and frozen logistics.
Proficient in SAP, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
Strong leadership, organisational, and communication abilities.
Knowledge of HACCP, LEAN, and health & safety procedures.
Experience managing compliance and export documentation.
Proven people management skills.
