Evening Shift Production Supervisor – Co. Wexford

Role Overview: The Evening Shift Production Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the production processes during the evening shift. The goal is to ensure that sorting, production, and packing operations are carried out efficiently, on time, within budget, and to quality standards while maintaining a safe and motivated workplace.

Scope of Role: Working exclusively on the evening shift, the Production Supervisor provides leadership, direction, and support to Team Leaders and production staff. Key responsibilities include communicating production goals, identifying training opportunities, promoting a safe work environment, and providing feedback on staff performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Development: Support and guide Team Leaders and staff to enhance their skills and abilities.

Primary Duties:

  • Safety & Compliance: Actively promote and enforce adherence to health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Cultivate a culture of respect, inclusivity, and continuous improvement.
  • Production Planning: Develop and implement production schedules to meet targets.
  • Schedule Management: Regularly review and adjust schedules as necessary.
  • Resource Allocation: Adjust manpower plans to meet packing requirements and determine necessary material resources.
  • Operations Management: Manage human and material resources to achieve production targets, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Quality Control: Analyze production and quality data to identify and correct issues, implementing process improvements as needed.
  • Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed production reports.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and evaluate staff performance, addressing issues such as attendance and punctuality.
  • HR Coordination: Address HR-related issues, including performance management and attendance, and authorize payroll for the shift.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Ensure effective communication and collaboration with departments such as QHSE, HR, Engineering, Sales, Customer Service, and Finance.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as necessary to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role within a production environment is preferred.
  • Education: A third-level qualification in a related field is advantageous.
  • Technical Proficiency: Competency in Microsoft Office Suite and a strong understanding of production processes from start to finish.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to supervise teams and manage resources effectively.

Required Knowledge:

  • Production Management: In-depth understanding of production management principles.
  • Technical Process Knowledge: Familiarity with the technical aspects of production processes.
  • Leadership: Skills in delegation, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Legislation: Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.

Skills Required:

  • Supervisory & Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer software, including spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Time Management: Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Problem Solving: Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Decision-Making: Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Conflict Resolution: Skills in conflict management and the ability to multitask effectively.
