Head of Section/Senior Process Engineer - County Meath.
In this role you will be responsible for planning, organising, and directing operations, including plant, port, and lab facilities. Key duties include managing process and production to meet business objectives, supervising Opex and Capex fund usage, and ensuring compliance with EHS and legal requirements. The role requires independent work under organisational guidelines, efficient completion of tasks within regulatory deadlines, and availability outside normal working hours. The role oversees all aspects of the process and laboratory, ensuring technical integrity, safety, and cost efficiency. Utilisation of external resources is necessary, and other relevant duties may be assigned.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Develop long and short-range process/production plans (e.g. emergency response, energy management, annual budget).
• Lead teams to monitor, record, analyse, and improve plant performance.
• Achieving analysis targets while ensuring technical integrity.
• Co-ordinate metallurgical or other test work to maintain and improve performance.
• Monitor KPI's and costs versus budget via online reporting systems.
• Ensure compliance with IPC regulations.
• Prepare department production plan and budget.
• Liaise with Marketing and Commercial departments for concentrate sales planning.
• Coordinate with relevant department on production and backfill scheduling.
• Participate in procurement of equipment and services.
• Initiate, lead, and support improvements and projects.
• Manage communications and lead workplace meetings.
• Ensure training needs analysis and implementation for process/production, lab, and port.
• Plan and conduct appraisals and development plans for direct reports.
• Recruit personnel and ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
• Actively engage in EHS and HR work, including safety walks.
• Represent the company in discussions with union personnel.
Experience & Qualifications sought for this role:
• Extensive industry experience: At least 10-15 years' experience in process engineering or production management within a heavy industrial environment.
• Leadership: Proven track record of leading and managing teams, with strong strategic planning and decision-making skills.
• Process Optimisation: Experience in optimising production processes, improving efficiency, and implementing best practices.
• Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Safety Compliance: In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and experience in maintaining a safe working environment.
• Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Advanced Management Training: Additional qualifications in management, such as an MBA, advantageous.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in process control systems, quality assurance, and production technologies.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and address production issues.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various departments and stakeholders.
