Health and Safety Officer - County Westmeath.
Our client seeks a Health and Safety Officer to play a pivotal role in fostering a health and safety culture across the work environment. Working closely with the EHS Manager, you will help ensure the safety and compliance of operations while driving the achievement of business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor work processes to identify unsafe practices or safety regulation breaches.
• Develop a safety management programme to achieve ISO45001 certification.
• Collaborate with the site operations team, assisting with health and safety across all tasks.
• Inspect equipment to ensure proper installation and functionality, and coordinate repairs for any unsafe or damaged machinery.
• Organise and conduct safety training for staff and contractors.
• Implement safety procedures and policies for production operations.
• Investigate incidents to determine root causes and unsafe conditions.
• Oversee the set up of safety equipment, such as PPE, firefighting tools, and signage.
• Prepare and present safety reports to management.
• Work with regulatory agencies and investigators on workplace incident investigations.
• Conduct risk assessments for all operational areas.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and maintain up-to-date records.
• Stay informed on the latest occupational health and safety practices.
• Provide guidance and direction to stakeholders on health and safety matters.
• Deliver induction training for new employees and external contractors on Health & Safety, COVID-19, and Manual Handling.
• Communicate health and safety updates and initiatives to all staff.
• Conduct regular site audits and inspections, reporting findings to senior management.
• Promote the company’s goals for a safe and incident-free workplace.
Skills and Experience requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Safety Management, or a related field. Certification from a recognised occupational health and safety body
• Proven ability to develop and implement safe operational strategies.
• At least 2 years' experience in Health & Safety, with manufacturing experience desirable.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain safety procedures clearly.
