HSE Manager

North Dublin/UK

€90k + Package

Required for leading manufacturer and supplier of specialist concrete products to the Irish & UK construction industry including Precast cladding.

 Responsibilities 

  • Developing, implementing, and managing health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures across the company – manufacturing plants, construction sites and professional services offices. 

  • Overall responsibility for the health and safety of the organisation including direction, strategic development, performance and maintenance. 

  • Acting as the Responsible Person for all HSE matters, identifying and responding to current legal and best practice requirements. 

  • Creating initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents across the company. 

  • Assessing risk and ensuring compliance with legal guidelines. 

  • Investigating incidents and providing recommendations for improvement. 

  • Working proactively and engage with managers and other key employees to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement in the delivery of HSE and wellbeing. 

  • Working closely with the HSE Team to ensure compliance requirements are being controlled, documented and maintained in accordance with regulations and guidelines.  

  • Ensuring that rigorous risk assessment and incident management systems are in place and followed across the organisation. Review and develop risk assessments for factory activities including, Chemical assessments, Manual Handling, Noise, DSE, Abrasive Wheels, Work at Height, Confined Spaces and other Statutory requirements 

  • Liaising with HR on health and wellbeing issues particularly where a risk assessment has identified a need, including supporting HR and line managers in carrying out individual risk assessments when required. 

  • Implementing, coaching and maintenance of HSE procedures, programmes and management systems to the ISO 14001 & ISO45001 standards. 

Recent proven experience of working in a health and safety role at a similar level (5+ years) and bringing about culture change within an organisation 

Requirements 

  • 3rd Level qualified in relevant discipline with extensive experience in HSE

  • Experience in completing health and safety management audits against ISO 45001 and implementing action plan to meet audit findings. 

  • Experience in training, coaching and mentoring to develop health and safety knowledge and expertise. 

  • comprehensive knowledge of current HSE legislation, management and standards. 

  • Ability to interpret and provide authoritative advice on health and safety and risk management issues.

  • NEBOSH Health and Safety Certificate. General or Construction. 

  • NVQ Occupational Health and Safety. 

  • NEBOSH Environmental Diploma.  

  • PTTLS or Train the Trainer
