This position is based at a manufacturing facility in Co. Offaly, reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager. The salary offered will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and schedule maintenance activities to ensure peak operational efficiency and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Apply practical fault-finding skills along with a strong understanding of preventative maintenance and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ensure all maintenance tasks meet company standards and remain within the allocated budget for labor and materials, working closely with the Maintenance Manager and Site Accountant.
  • Utilize personal initiative, knowledge, and experience when designing, estimating, and installing mechanical services, engineering equipment, and plant systems in accordance with current guidelines and legislation.
  • Monitor and maintain the smooth operation of mechanical services, engineering plant systems, and equipment.
  • Perform installation, repairs, and scheduled maintenance on refrigeration systems, compressors, motors, pumps, heat recovery systems, ventilation systems, and control mechanisms.
  • Actively engage in Lean Project Teams to drive improvements and efficiencies.
  • Maintain regular contact with contractors and installers to ensure that all installations meet the required quality and safety standards.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds a Trade Electrical Qualification and has evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Experience in food production is preferred, but candidates from other industrial production backgrounds will also be considered.
  • Demonstrates a high level of technical expertise, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in a similar industry. Expertise in Industrial Automation, Moving Equipment, Conveyors, Power Transmission, Refrigeration, PLCs, bearing repairs, Pneumatic/Hydraulic systems, and electrical machinery is essential.
  • Adheres to high standards of safe working practices and awareness.
  • Possesses excellent problem-solving and analytical skills for effective fault diagnosis.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Capable of both written and verbal communication with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Able to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
