Senior Automation Engineer - South Dublin.
Our client seeks a Senior Automation Engineer to be part of the engineering group, providing crucial support in a high-volume, fully-automated manufacturing setting. In this role, you will lead automation initiatives, troubleshoot and optimise processes and equipment while driving continuous improvement.
• Lead plant-wide automation projects, working closely with vendors on the design, procurement, evaluation, and acceptance of new equipment.
• Lead and mentor a team of talented Automation Technicians, fostering an environment of collaboration and growth.
• Use Lean, Six Sigma, and Project Management techniques to continuously improve automated equipment and processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to monitor equipment performance, using proven troubleshooting and problem-solving methods to identify and address root causes.
• Provide front-line technical support and leadership to Engineering, Operations, Validation, Development, and Quality teams.
• Manage software revision control systems and support plant-wide automation change management processes.
• Assist the Validation team with new process validation, equipment upgrades, and new product introductions (NPI).
• Conduct risk assessments for new equipment and tasks, driving proactive actions to reduce safety risks and improve workplace safety.
• Contribute to budget preparation and work towards cost-effective solutions.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Support the training and development of Engineering Technicians, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• A B.Eng. in Electrical, Software, Manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 5 years' relevant experience in Equipment Automation, Software, or a similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation products, with the ability to write code from specifications.
• Experience with high-speed vision systems (Cognex) and control networks & communication systems (ControlNet, DeviceNet, Ethernet).
• Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting Motion Control Systems (Allen Bradley, Emerson).
• Experience in the development, deployment, and maintenance of SCADA/HMI systems (Allen Bradley, Schneider).
• A creative problem solver with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
• People management experience is a plus, but not required.
• Familiarity with Object Oriented Programming and SQL Server/database design is a bonus.
