Site Lean Coordinator – County Offaly
The Role & Purpose:
This role is responsible for leading continuous improvement initiatives across the site. Overseeing Lean and continuous improvement projects including reporting, cost assessments, and staff training, the Site Lean Coordinator will be a key member of the site's management team.
This position is central to driving a culture of operational excellence using Lean methodologies. Working closely with site and group managers, the successful candidate will coordinate Lean strategies, support the delivery of business objectives, and promote the development of best practices in all areas of operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Lean initiatives across the site under established Continuous Improvement Programmes.
Foster a strong problem-solving culture and apply permanent corrective actions where necessary.
Maintain a constant focus on performance, efficiency, and Lean goals.
Identify and eliminate waste while promoting growth, customer satisfaction, and operational development.
Scope, select, and prioritise Lean initiatives and lead their implementation.
Provide guidance to managers on the application of Lean practices.
Apply Lean tools such as DMAIC, 5S, value stream mapping, etc.
Train and coach team members on Lean principles and continuous improvement techniques.
Coordinate and lead Lean Kaizen events to drive operational efficiencies.
Define training needs related to Lean rollouts.
Support the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
Conduct weekly GEMBA walks and report findings using the 4W framework.
Develop and measure financial outcomes from Lean activities.
Undertake additional duties as required by management.
Strategic Responsibilities:
Build and maintain effective relationships across all staff levels to support a Lean-focused culture.
Collaborate with leadership to create a site-specific Lean strategy.
Act as a key change agent, communicating the Lean vision and assisting staff with implementation.
Continuously benchmark internal practices against industry leaders and best-in-class standards.
Functional Responsibilities:
Deliver training, mentoring, and support to all departments on Lean practices.
Collaborate with plant teams to assess and improve existing processes.
Facilitate and oversee Lean Kaizen events and ensure savings are tracked.
Identify and prioritise Lean initiatives, including JDIs and A3s.
Measure process improvements and report associated cost benefits.
Sustain and expand existing Lean initiatives.
Commit to continuous personal development in Lean thinking and methodologies.
Reporting Responsibilities:
Track and report progress of Lean initiatives aligned with strategic goals.
Provide regular updates to senior management and board members.
Monitor and report on Lean project expenditures.
Ensure site visual Lean reporting systems remain accurate and up to date.
Requirements & Desired Skills:
Degree level qualification.
Minimum 5 years' experience in Lean or related continuous improvement roles.
Proven project management capabilities.
Lean and/or Six Sigma certifications are a strong advantage.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work cross-functionally.
Clear and confident communicator with coaching and influencing skills.
Results-driven and highly organised with a passion for efficiency and innovation.
