Summary

The Presentation Story spans more than two hundred and fifty years. Nano Nagle was born in Ballygriffin, near Mallow in County Cork, in 1718. The Nagles were a wealthy Catholic family who were well respected.

After some time of living the good life in Paris, where she had been educated, Nano discovered that her mission in life lay in educating the poor and deprived children of Ireland. She returned to Cork and set up her first school in Cove Lane. From these small beginnings the Presentation Congregation flourished. Over the years many houses and schools were founded throughout Ireland and the world.

The Presentation Sisters in Ireland are organised into three Provinces – the Northern Province, the South East Province and the South West Province. In 2007 there were 106 Communities in Ireland and 960 sisters.

There are approximately 3000 Presentation Sisters working in a variety of education, health, pastoral and social justice ministries across the globe.
