Munster Technological University (MTU) was established on 1st January 2021 and is the newest University in the South-West with six campuses across Cork and Kerry. MTU has over 18,000 learners, 2,000 staff and 140 courses and programmes ranging from apprenticeships, degrees, Masters to PhDs. Its mission is to lead change and, through education, empower people for a successful future in a globalised world. MTU provides a broad range of programmes and research opportunities across multiple disciplines, contributing to regional development and innovation. Within this period of transition and transformation, Munster Technological University (MTU) is seeking to appoint a Vice-President, People and Culture. The Vice-President will report directly to the President and is responsible for the theme of People and Community within the University Strategic Plan across all six campuses in MTU. The role of the Vice-President includes all aspects of HR including staff recruitment, retention, training and development, employee relations, and equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). The Vice-President will also lead staff engagement and satisfaction and collaborate closely with the Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Registrar to support student satisfaction. The Vice-President will play a critical role in creating a positive and supportive work environment that allows the University to attract and retain top talent while fostering a culture that aligns with the University’s values and goals. The Vice-President will lead and support the University community through complex organisational change, supporting Faculties, Departments and Functions through this change process.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience leading an effective People strategy or people aspects of a strategy as well as having led a professional services function in a large and complex organisation. They will have a track record of delivering business planning and cost-efficient management of a budget to support organisational objectives. This individual will have a strong commitment to EDI, high emotional intelligence and be resilient and adaptable during times of change in order to develop relationships, drive initiatives and implement systems across the University.
