Summary

We are the Public Appointments Service and through our website, here, at publicjobs.ie, we are the centralised provider of recruitment, assessment and selection services for the Civil Service. We also provide recruitment services for the most senior roles in Local Authorities, leadership positions and Hospital Consultant roles for the HSE, trainees for An Garda Síochána, and a range of Head of Office and specialist professional and technical roles throughout the Civil and Public Service.

We also support the appointments, by Minsters, to State Boards through our website at Stateboards.ie.

Recruitment to the Civil Service and a range of other public bodies operates under the provisions of the Public Service Management (Recruitment and Appointments) Acts, 2004 to 2013. We operate under licence from the Commission for Public Service Appointments (CPSA) and we are independent in our operations. We continuously strive to meet all the requirements of the CPSA Codes of Practice and our approach is underpinned by a set of core and meaningful values. Where the Codes do not apply, we adhere to the same core principles in carrying out our functions.

"We aim, through our professionalism and excellence, to work in partnership with our clients, to attract and engage great people to the Irish public service."

We are an agile recruitment organisation, recognised for continuously reaching standards of excellence in sourcing, assessing and delivering quality candidates to a complex array of roles across a diverse range of public service organisations. In 2018, we processed over 88,000 applications, conducted over 13,000 interviews and made almost 9,000 appointments to a range of complex roles across a diverse range of client organisations.

Our key strategic objectives can be summarized as follows:

1. Provide responsive, quality, timely recruitment and resourcing services to our core clients;
2. Enhance our business processes and systems to maximize operational excellence;
3. Develop stronger public recognition of our organisation to attract more diverse and high quality applicant pools;
4. Consolidate our position as an influential and valued partner and centre of expertise;
5. Build a progressive, values based, high performance culture and workplace.
