Immigration Control Officer

The Department of Justice is seeking to recruit Immigration Control Officers who are interested in being appointed to immigration duties in the Border Management Unit at ports of entry. The Border Management Unit (BMU) is part of the Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) function of the Department of Justice. ISD administers the Irish Immigration System across the state and further information can be found at www.irishimmigration.ie

The Border Management Unit is a fast-paced environment, which demands officers to respond and adapt to change quickly. The role requires a high level of output and will be best suited to candidates who have worked in dynamic environments previously.

Candidates should be aware that this role involves working in a ‘front line’ operational environment. In the context of Dublin Airport, officers appointed will be required to work on a twelve-hour shift pattern and roster operating on a 24hour basis, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

As such the conditions, associated shift rosters and allowances payable may differ between these locations. Successful candidates appointed to ports of entry other than Dublin Airport will be advised of the conditions of service prior to taking up the role.

More detailed information about the role of the Immigration Control Officer and the application process is available in the Candidate Information Booklet which we would encourage you to read carefully before applying.
