Operations Director -The Operations Director is a critical hire overseeing 270 employees in a busy 24/6 packaging manufacturing environment. You will be accountable for key operational areas, including safety, delivery, service, reliability, quality, & the commercials. This role demands an exceptional leader capable of thriving in a unique cultural environment with an ability to drive change.
Key Focus areas :
- Safety, Quality, & Service: Ensure that the highest standards are maintained across all operational aspects.
- Delivery & Reliability: Guarantee timely & efficient delivery while maintaining system reliability.
- Commercials: Manage cost efficiency & profitability, with P&L oversight for the site.
- Customer Service: Oversee & enhance customer service operations, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Planning & Scheduling: Implement effective planning & scheduling practices.
- Engineering & Maintenance: Supervise engineering functions & preventive maintenance activities.
- Distribution: Manage & optimise distribution processes.
Main responsibilities :
- EHS - Provide strategic & directional EHS focus; facilitates & lead EHS discussions.
- Operational Management: Directly supervise assigned members of the Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, H&S & Supply Chain functions.
- Cost Management: Continual challenge, necessitating vigilant commercial oversight.
- Equipment & Maintenance: Ensure proper maintenance of equipment & building & maintain superior plant housekeeping standards.
- People: Develop & maintain positive employee & community relations. Ensure compliance with all statutory & regulatory agencies & promote equal opportunity for all.
- Continuous Improvement: Responsible for introducing & managing CI initiatives like Lean, Kaizen, 6- Sigma.
Education & Experience
- Hons Degree in business, manufacturing etc
- Exp. in leading & managing large teams in a complex, highly regulated manufacturing company.
- Exp. in the packaging industry ideally in highly regulated environs.
- Strong leadership & communication skills
- Exp. of training & motivating teams, creating visionary, empowering environment.
- SAP, Six Sigma or other Lean Manufacturing tools.
- Change Mgt. problem-solving skills & techniques
- Attention to Detail: An unwavering focus on detail, in quality & cost management, & operational efficiency.
- Expert MS Office, Word, Excel, & WMS, ERP & CRM
- 5 to 10 years of career growth with min of 3 in a plant leadership or GM role.
