Salary: €70,368 - €90,198
Background
The IT Server and Network Engineer position is an experienced role within the IT Networks team responsible for supporting TII’s server and network infrastructure and key technical applications. Reporting to the IT Networks manager and working in the IT Networks Team they are responsible with the IT Networks Manager for monitoring, updating, and configuring windows servers, cen-tralised storage and network equipment and supporting applications and PPP Companies across the network, sub-contractors and technical advisors.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Server and Storage Infrastructure:
· Building and maintaining Windows Servers
· Monitoring servers and storage health (Nutanix and VMWare)
· Responding to alerts and troubleshooting issues.
· Logging and managing calls with third party support providers
2. Network Equipment:
· Supporting network equipment (Juniper) and cabling infrastructure
· Supporting firewalls including making rule changes for approval (Juniper)
· Responding to alerts and troubleshooting issues.
· Logging and managing calls with third party support providers
3. Patching:
· Testing and deploying Microsoft and storage provider patches across servers, client de-vices and centralised storage
· Reporting to on a weekly basis to our Security Monitoring team on progress in relation to patching and vulnerability management
4. Operation of IT Technical Management Tools:
· Use of Endpoint Central for managing patching and deployment of updates
· Use of Nessus Professional for reporting on internal vulnerabilities
· Use of Citrix, VMWare and Nutanix management platforms
· Set up InTune and Azure AD
· Use of Commvault Backup Software
Undertaking such tasks, activities or other duties as may be required or assigned appropriate to the grade.
All the divisions within TII have inter-dependant responsibilities and close cooperation, collaboration and teamwork are required across the whole organisation to meet tight deadlines.
Note: The functions and responsibilities assigned to this position are based on the current stated role and may be changed from time to time. The person appointed will be required to demonstrate the flexibility necessary to fulfil other roles and responsibilities at a similar grade within TII.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Character
Each candidate must be of good character.
Health
A candidate for and any person holding the role must be fully competent and capable of undertaking duties attached to the role and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Education & Experience
The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the key competencies for a Grade 2 position, as well as the following job-specific requirements:
· A third level qualification (NFQ Level 7 or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as Infor-mation Technology or other Computing discipline
· Proven 5 years of experience in working within an IT network function in a minimum Level 2 position
· Experience working with some or all of the following:
o Windows Server
o VMWare
o Azure AD
o Citrix
o Commvault or another Backup Application
· Experience of managing a Windows patching regime
· Experience with Firewalls
· Experience of working with and managing 3rd party support providers
· Experience working within a team including depending on and providing support to other team members within their roles
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to present technical information to a non-technical audience
· A high standard of technical training in areas such as Microsoft AD, Microsoft Azure AD and related technologies, IT Networking, Firewalls, Backup Technologies and/or Virtualisation (Citrix/VMWare)
