About the Role
Regular donations and legacy gifts from our Alumni and friends play a crucial role in supporting Trinity in providing student supports such as our counselling & disability services, bursaries and scholarships, the Trinity Access Programme, and Hardship Fund amongst others. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and drive strategies that inspire philanthropic support from alumni, supporters, and friends of the university which will enable students to have the unique Trinity experience that they themselves had. - Deliver the fundraising strategy for the Regular Giving & Legacy Giving programmes using multi-channel approaches and direct marketing fundraising best practice to increase the value of gifts and the number of alumni who give regularly to the university.
- Using a data led approach, develop annual marketing plans which include prospect identification, ask amounts, and fundraising medium.
- Develop compelling cases for support and oversee all written material including brochures, flyers, calling scripts, fulfilment packs for the Regular Giving & Legacy Giving programmes.
- Working with our fundraising consultants oversee the annual telephone fundraising campaigns.
- Manage the acquisition, upgrade, and stewardship of our mid-level donors (€1k to €10k) utilising a range of communication channels including face to face, telephone, direct mail, and email.
- Deliver a comprehensive donor stewardship programme that cultivates, grows and retains regular donors and legacy pledgers.
- Develop a fundraising dashboard with defined KPIs goals and prepare progress reports for senior management as required.
- Support develop and motivate your team of highly qualified fundraisers.
- Manage operating budgets on activities and actively monitor the return on investment of different solicitation methods.
- Engage with key internal stakeholders – in TDA and the University – to champion the programmes and capitalise on opportunities to embed fundraising messaging where appropriate.
- Build a strong sector network and awareness of innovation and best practice across Regular Giving & Legacy Giving fundraising across the university and charity sectors.
Reporting Lines & Key Relationships
As the Head of Regular Giving & Legacy Giving you will report to the Director of Operations and manage the Associate Director of Legacy & Endowment Fundraising, the Fundraising Manager, and the Alumni Giving Manager. You will engage proactively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including College academics and management, students, donors, alumni, volunteers, and friends of Trinity.
About the Person:
As the Head of Regular Giving & Legacy Giving, you will:
- Be a strategic thinker with the proven ability to identify new opportunities and to apply your knowledge creatively and to think beyond traditional solutions.
- Be a confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to interact and influence colleagues and stakeholders.
- Have the ability to use data to formulate strategies.
- Have previous experience of delivering audience-focused fundraising strategies, preferably in the higher-education sector, through individual giving, regular giving, legacy fundraising, or direct marketing.
- Be experienced in direct marketing techniques including forecasting, data segmentation, copy and design evaluation.
- Be an accomplished people manger with experience of leading and motivating a team to successfully achieve their collective and individual targets.
- Have experience of working with a wide range of colleagues in a complex organisation to achieve strategic goals.
- Have a third-level qualification and/or professional qualification in fundraising, marketing, or direct marketing.
- Be skilled at project and budgetary management.
- Be IT literate and proficient at using Microsoft Office.
