CareerWise require a Senior Health & Safety Officer for a large project in Dundalk on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will initially commence employment in Dundalk, however, they will be required to spend some time in Kildare working on an existing project before returning to Dundalk in May 2020. They will then be based in Dundalk for the foreseeable future.

A generous package will be made available for the most suitable candidate depending upon experience.

The successful candidate must be extremely motivated and be willing to work as part of a team. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and dynamic individual with good knowledge of health and safety operating systems and legislation. This role will support setting company policies, translate those policies into working processes and ensure all legislative, corporate and industry requirements are met.

THE ROLE:
* Ensure that all Health and Safety safe operating procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and reviewed, updated and communicated to all employees.
* Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and activities taking place.
* Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, and daily/ weekly inspections are being carried out.
* Conduct risk assessments, review and update existing risk assessments.
* Liaise with the company safety team to continuously improve the company safety system.
* Support any investigations into near misses, accidents, identify root causes and implement changes to prevent reoccurrences.
* Generate monthly performance reports on EH&S KPI's.
* Maintain a watch on all EH&S legislation changes and assess implications for the company.
* Carry out safety inspections and audits as necessary.
* Ensure all contractors are managed according to The Client EH&S requirements.
* Check and sign off SPA's daily - amend occasionally to include additional tasks.
* Populate plant register- check new machinery when it arrives on site- ensure GA1's are valid and in date; ensure check sheet is available for operative, and complete paperwork.
* Risk Assessments, Method Statements for our client - review RAMS issued by sub-contractors.
* Site inductions when required.
* Attend weekly safety meetings & look ahead meetings on site.
* Safety walk with Client and review findings on site.
* Weekly site audits.
* Populate plant register- check new machinery when it arrives on site- ensure GA1's are valid and in date; ensure check sheet is available for operative, and complete paperwork.
* Ensure all GA certs and statutory documents are up to date.

REQUIREMENTS:
* Occupational Health and Safety Degree or similar.
* 4 years EHS officer experience with good knowledge of H&S Legislation.
* Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills and IT skills including Microsoft office.
* Desirable - experience in the manufacturing/Construction industry - previous experience with Structural Steel would be a distinct advantage.
* Experience of carrying out audits desirable.
* Previous 'Lean' experience desirable
