Principal Design Automation Specialist

Our client based in Athlone is looking for an Automation Design SME to head up their Automation Continuous Improvements Projects Division across multiple sites internationally. This role is an ideal opportunity to work autonomously and to work with one of the top Medical Device companies in the world.

The ideal candidate must have the following:

  • At least 7-10+ yrs relevant experience working on identifying and implementing Automation upgrades/ builds / projects live on site from start to finish.
  • You must have a Mechanical Design background with a proven track record in Automation Projects.
  • You must be able to develop concepts, design, spec the required equipment, put together a full proposal and manage a full implementation of an Automated system.
  • The ideal candidate must be comfortable and experienced in presenting ideas/ proposed projects to management and stakeholders.
  • This role will involve liaising with multi-sites internationally ,so the ideal candidate must be a strong communicator with proven track record in managing cross functional teams.
  • Must have knowledge in Programmable logic controls (PLC) – Allen Bradley, pneumatic systems, motor control, vision systems, and instrumentation.
  • Knowledgeable on project management of automation systems development lifecycle.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced on Design for Excellence (DFX) Principles and risk management methodologies such as PFMEA.
  • This role will involve international travel and therefore requires flexibility and a willing attitude.
  • Medical Device experience is essential.
Qualifications required for role:

Level 8 / Honours Degree in Engineering/ Mechatronic/ Electronic.

Must have an existing full permit to work in Ireland (Stamp 4 visa or EU Passport) and have fluent English both verbal and written.
